The Purposes of the Society:

    (1) To preserve and enhance the history and culture of the village of Allen and its environs.

    (2) To provide educational opportunities for residents and non-residents regarding life in the village of Allen across the centuries.

We seek to accomplish these purposes:

    a. By maintaining an archive for documents pertaining to local families and institutions, including genealogical records, family histories, letters, diaries, church records, etc..

    b. By publishing a newsletter, The Allen Historian, at least two times per year and distributing it not only to the membership, but also to all libraries and organizations with a historical or genealogical focus in the three lower counties of the Eastern Shore, which once made up Old Somerset County.

    c. By supporting publication of books of local, historical and cultural interest.

    d. By sponsoring lectures, workshops and other public events of an educational nature.

    e. By placing historical markers at significant sites within the village and the surrounding area.

    f. By maintaining an exhibit space with examples of local material culture, as well as photographs and documents in the Society's headquarters, "Passerdyke Cottage".

    g. By maintaining a web-page
